FAQ

[RACE INFORMATION]

Are there restrictions on what bikes i can use for the Triathlon?

Allowed – Foldies, Road Bike, Mountain Bikes, Hybrid Bikes, TT Bikes, Aero Bars

Not allowed – Fixed Wheel Bikes, Fat Wheel Bikes

Are there cut-off times?

Extended – 4h 30m
Standard – 3h 30m
Sprint – 2h
Mini – 1h
Kids – NA

What happens if I am unable to complete within the Cut-Off time?

As we hope that all our athletes will be able to complete the race, even if it takes longer than the Cut-Off time, we will only enforce the Cut-off times only on a case-to-case basis or due to safety reasons.

All participants have to complete the race by 12.30pm as roads will be reopened by 1pm.

Is this a drafting race?

This is a non-Drafting Race. Participants need to be out of the drafting zone of another participant during their bike leg.

The drafting zone is defined as a rectangular area 7 meters long (23 feet) by 2 meters wide (6 feet 6 inches) surrounding each bicycle. The longer sides of the zone begin at the leading edge of the front wheel and run backward parallel to the bicycle; the front wheel divides the short side of the zone into two equal parts, each being one meter wide.

A participant may enter the drafting zone of another cyclist without penalty, if he or she enters the drafting zone from the rear, closes the gap and overtakes the leading cyclist all within no more than 15 seconds. Anyone caught longer in the draft zone will face a penalty.

How does the Team Relay work?

Each Team Relay can have 2-3 participants.

With 2 participants, one participant will complete 2 legs while the second will do 1 leg of the race.

With 3 participants, each participant will complete 1 leg of the race. It will be up to the Team to decide on this.

1 Timing Chip will be passed between participants. All hand offs will need to be completed at the Timing Chip Team Relay tent at Transition.

[OPEN WATER SWIM]

Why is the Open Water Swim mandatory for first time Open Water Swim participants?

This is to ensure that all participants are confident and competent in the open water swim component during the race.

What must I do during the Open Water Trial to pass?

Attendees of the Open Water Trial will be expected to swim 80% distance of your selected Swim Category under a stipulated time limit.

Ie. For Standard distance OWS Cut-Off Time : – 1500m Swim x 80% = 1200m Swim under 40min.

For those who have prior race experience in OWS, you may choose to add this on for a practice session.

If I sign up for the same day Open Water Swim Clinic as a first timer, do I still need to participate in the Open Water Swim Trial?

Yes. Our swim coaches will conduct the Swim Trial for you upon completion of the Swim Clinic.

Please remember to add on both during Registration.
