FAQs
Is this a virtual race and what is the race distance?
Yes, it is still a virtual race given the current pandemic situation. Runners can choose either 5KM or 10KM distance at the time of sign up or both. Those who are running up for two different distances must provide different email addresses at the time of sign up as the tracker app cannot recognise one common email address for two different races. Runners can choose any route to commence their run and they are reminded to keep a safe distance from members of the public while out. Remember to mask up after the run.
If I sign up for one race, how do I know which race will I be running given there are 6 bi-monthly races in a year?
Unless you have signed up for 6 bi-monthly races which allow you to run in every race, those who sign up for one bi-monthly race will get to run in the current race. This will allow us as organisers to ensure there is no overlapping and have better control of the event.
Do I use my own GPS device to record my result for submission?
Sportsplits is the event official timekeeper and therefore, results taken by Sportsplits tracker app are recognised only. The tracker app will be assigned a week before the race and runners have to claim & download it on mobile. There is no need to submit to the link as the app will automatically stop after the completion of the race distance. Points will then be calculated based on the completion time.
Is there a minimum and maximum age limitation to sign up?
Qooline Bi-Monthly Run Challenge is based on the age handicap concept which means points are awarded in accordance with the birth year of the runner and completion time taken on the Sportsplits tracker app. An older runner will gain extra points over his or her younger competitor. The points are calculated from age 20 as the entry point and with each ascending age, an extra second or seconds will be accorded. There is no minimum age requirement but anyone who is aged 20 and below will still be starting at aged 20 being the entry-level with no extra second or seconds accorded. There is no age cap on older runners as points are calculated with every ascending year.
How do I receive my race entitlement?
On completion of each bi-monthly race, race medals for that particular month will be mailed out to participants by post. Only the top 5 podium finishers will be notified to collect their prizes and medals at the office.
This is a virtual race, how do the organiser know that I did not attempt to cheat?
This is a virtual race because a race with a physical presence is not made possible due to the pandemic. We will still endeavour to instil competitiveness among our runners in the virtual sphere. The tracker app will sound out alert once it has detected unusual activity which will prompt us to investigate the cause. For all podium finishers, we will have to request for the sighting of proof on the birth year before we present the prizes at time of collection. Honesty is the best policy in this virtual race and ultimately, the onus is on the runners to abide to this. As organisers, we reserve the final decision to award the winners in event of any dispute.
